Hugh is Senior Partner and Head of Personal lnjury at Potter Rees Dolan. For almost 30 years he has acted on behalf of clients with brain and spinal cord injuries of the utmost severity, as well as having experience handing professional negligence cases, achieving record settlements with a reputation recognised nationally.
Hugh acted for the Claimant in Wilkinson v Churchill referred by the Court of Appeal to the ECJ and has achieved several record settlements, including the case of MM with settlement on full liability basis of £25 million and the case of TTT where damages of £30 million were secured.
Hugh qualified in 1988, becoming a Partner in Pannone & Partners in 1990. Formed Hugh Potter & Company on 1 May 1998 which became Potter Rees Serious Injury Solicitors in October 2004 and Potter Rees Dolan in April 2014. Hugh is Managing Partner and Head of the Personal Injury Department at PRD. PRD has 27 fee-earners and provides specialist legal services to those who have suffered life changing injuries or have long term disability. PRD advises about large claims for compensation, the Court of Protection/Deputyship and Personal Injury Trusts and welfare benefit advice for those with head and spinal cord injuries.
Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and Secretary of Forum of Complex Injury Lawyers (FOCIS); Hugh is also recognised by the Legal 500 and Chambers guides to the legal profession.
Hugh is an active fundraiser for brain injury charities and a keen cyclist.
